1 December 2017. A walk to Lumpini Park
I wanted to visit the area where I'd stayed the first few times I'd come to Bangkok - Lumphini (or Lumpini).
I started from the pier at Sathorn and walked into the adjacent park which I had never taken much notice of. I don't know whether the sleepers were simply resting or homeless. Either way, they did not look to have great comfort.
All in all, it was quite an easy walk but I was struck by the ridiculous volume (in both senses of the word) of traffic.
On the way, I passed the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, which contrasted splendidly with the striking modern skyscraper behind it.

Outside were several shops selling flowers and other products for the temple.
I was glad to get into to the relative calm of the park.
It is something of an oasis and seems to be a haven for Bangkok's crows
It is also home to some sculptures which are pleasant enough.
The swan boats, however, did not have many takers and looked a bit forlorn
After this, I got the pensioner-friendly MRT and walked to the river for a boat back. Very pleasant but time to move on really. I think I've done all the tourist sites of Bangkok and unlike Singapore and Hong Kong and even Hanoi it isn't really the sort of City with much of an Arts scene - which I think I need in order to live somewhere..
