13 December 2017. Don Khong Museum

I set off on the bike again without a particular itinerary in mind. I'd noticed the museum on the road into town and decided to pay it a visit.
It looked incredibly under-patronised and all the staff seemed to be playing boules in the garden
so I let myself in. It proved to be a very worthwhile visit, giving helpful background on the Lao people as well as minority tribes, particularly the Brao. It also had sections on traditional music, weaving as well as the agriculture and fishing industries.
Upstairs was a history of the Governor who had built the house containing the museum.
All in all, an interesting visit.
From the museum, I visited a couple of Wats - one with a monk sporting his Man U towel.

I then cycled into the countryside for some more country scenes
and then returned to the hotel for a refreshing swim and afternoon contemplating the Megong - a very spiritual river.
